Pharmacogenomics

Pharmacogenomics is the investigation of how genes influence a man’s reaction to drugs. This is generally a new field consolidates pharmacology and genomics (the investigation of genes and their capacities) to create successful, safe pharmaceuticals and dosages that will be custom fitted to a man’s hereditary makeup

These genetic differences are utilized to prevent adverse drug reactions and to predict whether a medication will be effective for a specific individual. In the future, Pharmacogenomics will be used for the development of tailored drugs to treat a wide range of health issues such as cardiovascular disease, Alzheimer disease, cancer, HIV/AIDS, and asthma.
